Cécile Aubry was a French actress, writer, director, and singer. She is best known for her role as the title character in the television series Belle et Sébastien. She also wrote and directed several films, including La Fête Sauvage and La Petite Voleuse. Aubry was born in Paris on 3 August 1928. She began her career as a singer, performing in cabarets and on the radio. She made her film debut in 1947 in the film La Vie de Bohème. She went on to appear in over 30 films, including La Belle et la Bête, La Symphonie Pastorale, and La Fête Sauvage. In 1965, Aubry wrote and directed her first film, La Fête Sauvage. The film was a success and won several awards, including the Grand Prix at the Cannes Film Festival. She went on to write and direct several other films, including La Petite Voleuse and La Maison de Poupée. In 1965, Aubry created the television series Belle et Sébastien, which she wrote and directed. The series was a huge success and ran for six seasons. Aubry was married twice, first to actor Jean-Claude Pascal and then to actor Jean-Claude Brialy. She had two children, a son and a daughter. Aubry died on 10 July 2018 at the age of 89.
